059° .A DREAM ON FILM.

Searching in my pictures archives, I realised that I still didn't share with you those crazy pictures from that quite singular place. Unfortunately, I will not be able to tell you so much about this place as everyone has been quiet. One thing is sure, it do not exist anymore. I was there at the end of September 2009 and I've been quite lucky as I remember the owner of the place telling me that that was it! he has just sold the warehouse and he was going to be destroyed within two weeks! And that is what actually happen.
Dear friends, Searching in my pictures archives, I realised that I still didn't share with you those crazy pictures from that quite singular place.

To be completely honest, I felt quite sad while preparing the pictures. Sad for not being able to share more infos than that with you all. But then I realised that we should all take it for what it is, a dream. Those pictures, wich are the only one existing from that place, should be seen as the illustration of that dream, of the biggest fantasy of every record digger. But a dream that can became true and should motivate each-one of us to keep on searching, to keep on being curious!

    1. Hi Asso DIY,
I'm unfortunately not allowed to tell more about this place. Being quiet about that place was the condition I had to accept to be allowed to shoot those pics and post them. All the best,
      fred.

    2. Why did they want to keep it a secret? I guess maybe you can't tell the reason for that either, though?
We understand if you can tell us, but then you'd have to shoot us. ;)

    3. Well yes, I actually don't know the reasons, sincerely. It has been told to me like a non-negociable request. So I accepted it as for me the most important is to have those pics posted.
And as you said, I wouldn't want to have to shoot anyone! : )
      Best,
      fred.

    1. Hi,
well actually, yes, this place and the records has been destroyed a very few days after I shot the pictures. But you know, don't worry, what needed to be saved has been saved! ;)
      All the best,
      fred.

    2. Glad you were able to save what needed to be saved! That would have been such a horrible waste... :(

    3. Well I personnaly do not saved so much stuff as I arrived in this place in the very last days of it. It already has been completely picked up!

    4. At least it didn't just all go to waste. Even if people just scooped things up to try and sell them, it's better than just going in the trash.
Hope you were able to find at least a few treasures, though!
I'm sure just the sleeves (if they weren't completely ruined already) were really interesting and worth saving.

  7. I would have given my left nut to have been able to spend a couple of days and nights sleeping in that warehouse and just cherry picking some what I would imagine to be great records! It saddens me to see records like that just thrown around in readiness for the bulldozer to start demolishing the entire building over these records! I wonder why the original owner of these records just abandoned them there?

    1. Hi Izzy, many thanks for your comment!
Actually, that place has once been completely organised, then, with time and uncareful diggers, it became that crazy mess. Sad for the records but nice for the photos! :)
Then, the owner of that didn't care a bit for records and sold this place to property developer who destroyed that abandonned place to build up fresh new buildings!
      Best,
      fred.

  14. What kind of records did you encounter? Some big treasures?

About ten years ago, when I was a teenager and before I became a record digger I found an old abandoned car without windows parked around the ourskirts of the city. It had no windows nor seats etc and it was filled with literally hundreds of records! I wasn't really interested so I just took a quick look and kept on walking.

Thinking now about what could have been there just breaks my heart...

    1. Hi Michal,
Many thanks for your comment and sorry for the late answer. It is kind of running over here!
So, regarding your questions, I have to admit that I've been there a the very end of the story and with very little time, just enough to shoot those pics. So I'm scared to be quite desapointing regarding big treasures that I would have found there... But be sure of one thing, even if it wasn't me, some people found really big treasures there!
And your story, man, suche an amazing and unique story! Just imagine nowadays that car filled with records captured on film!!! Never go out without a camera! Pictures are like wine, they get better with time! At least for the good ones! : )
      Greetings from São Paulo!

  15. These are wonderful. I am enjoying your site. Apparently you do not have OCD (transtorno obsessivo-compulsivo) because this is driving me crazy. I use to have dreams of discovering a place like this. All I want to do is organize and alphabetize and play everything in there.

    1. Hi, thanks for your comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the site!
ahaha! Well, I'm trying to controle myself as most as I can. And my main interest when I've been there was to shoot this place before too late! But you know, usually that kind of place goes from messy to clean up, here, It has been the inverse as it seams that a few monthes before I shot the photos, the place was clean and organised! Diggers themselves has turned that place what she became!
      Best,
      fred.

  16. Did the owner have any idea how many records were in the warehouse? I'm trying to guess how large the collection was and am stumped.

    1. Hi Dennis,
Well, at the time that the pics has been shot, the place was already 'picked up' but I guess that there should have been there something like a million of records. .. or more!
      Best,
      fred.
